Micro al Cremlino

Nel proprio Piano Quinquennale Scolastico, l’Unione Sovietica ha stanziato l’acquisto di un milione di micro-computers, scatenando quella che è già stata ribattezzata la «corsa all’Est» delle Case produttrici britanniche.

Per il momento al primo posto nella lista delle «pretendenti» figura, sorprendentemente, la MEMOTECH, seguita a ruota dal Consorzio Spectrum URSS.

Delle due la prima sembra comunque già sicura dell’appalto visto che dopo l’incontro avuto a Mosca con i responsabili sovietici, ha dato il via alla produzione di tastiere e ROM «cirilliche» per la propria gramma di computers modello MTX; la seconda, da parte sua, non sembra però aver perso tutte le speranze adducendo a proprio favore la tesi che circa centomila Spectrum sono già stati non ufficialmente esportati nei Paesi dell’Est.

Remember the Hobbit, the Soviet Spectrum clone we wrote about a few months ago? Well, they’re so proud of it over in Leningrad they asked us to pop over and have a look! “Okay,” said big KEITH POMFRET (who doesn’t need asking twice), “I’m on my way!”

When the jet bounced onto the cracked concrete at Leningrad airport and ground to a halt two miles from the terminal buildings I wondered if I was in the right place. All I could see out of the porthole was a huge expanse of concrete and flatlands, interrupted only by (eek!) huge military aircraft parked out by chequered hangers! What on earth was going on? It was with some trepidation that we all filed off into an articulated lorry (there wasn’t an airport bus to be seen) and were driven off towards some low buildings. Read more

The other week we had a phone call – there were a couple of Leningrad computer designers in London showing off their brand-new Spectrum-compatible machine, and did we want to see it? Well, of course we blooming well did! Come down to Bath, we said, and let us take it through its paces. The very next day Michail Osetinskij and Dmitri Michailov climbed on the back of Perestroika (well, a British Rail London-to-Bristol loco actually) so we could bring you a report on this powerful new machine.

Недавно, приобрёл себе смартфон для работы и развлечений. Использую только для интернета, а для звонков осталась кнопочная мобилка.

В первые дни настройки и притирки мне не хватало быстрого переноса с компьютера на смартфон какой-либо текстовой информации или ссылок. Знаю, что есть всякие программы, которые объединяют буфер обмена компьютера и мобильного. Но ставить ещё одну дополнительную программу, которая будет ещё память отжирать как на смартфоне, так и на стационарном компе, мне не хотелось. Read more

Разбирая старые журналы, наткнулся на интересную статью в французском журнале Sciences et Vie Micro #13 за 1985 год про IT-технологии в СССР. Статью привожу в оцифрованном виде, чтоб каждый мог с помощью онлайн-переводчиков узнать, как видели нас зарубежные журналисты. Последующие статьи тоже будут приводиться в оригинале, так как переводчик из меня не очень, а современные технологии достигли, такого уровня, что машинный перевод получается вполне читаемый.
